music for the soul: track 17
and You don’t stop – the walls group
When my way gets a little cloudy
And my nights, oh, get a little rough and lonely
No matter what's going on
You give me peace
You comfort me
You make it better
You're love that never leaves
And it don't stop
And You never change
And You stay the same
It is just crazy times we live in right now; I know many of you feel the same. The everchanging, frustrating and uncertain circumstances generate fear and anxiety of what will happen next. Well although we don’t know exactly what that next thing is, we know one thing, we know someone who will be there. It can be extremely hard to think positively when we are thinking about the safety and security of our loved ones – in terms of health, employment and wellbeing. But there is something we can do – we can hope, we can surrender, we can trust and hope in Jesus Our Saviour. And I know, this is all MUCH easier said than done. However, I find that there are a few prayers which help to focus on God and His almighty power – the Litany of Trust, the Surrender Novena and the Divine Mercy Chaplet. I suggest that you try one or all of these out, especially when you’re feeling anxious. I know what you’re thinking, maybe later – I don’t have time to do that. Well, good thing there is the surrender prayer:
O Jesus, I surrender myself to you, take care of everything!
11 words we can repeat throughout the day – to give everything to the One who knows it all. We may feel so out of control, but He never is. Let us find comfort not in the empty promises of the world but find refuge in God Himself. May we remember that hope is not just something that has to diminish with decelerating circumstances. Rather it is what you cling onto, what can remain even when it seems that there is nothing left. The Christian hope is not a blind optimism or ignorance to reality. It is rooted in love Himself, the Creator of the universe who always has, always is and always will be. Changes are happening drastically in this world today. But we only know one thing for sure, God is with us and He will never leave our side. We may not see Him in the midst of the storm, but He is with us on the boat. As long as we have Him, everything will be okay. And having Him is guaranteed, so you know it will be okay because God has got us. Let Him take care of you.
