We want to be seen, known and loved.
We want to be heard. Where do we look for validation?
Oftentimes, it’s in the things of this world. They will never suffice.
We have wounds and baggage we carry. Experiences that shape who we are.
While there are many things that can wound us, what’s more important is how we choose to take them. What's more important is how we choose to live the life we have.
The choice is ours: to be held down by those things that weigh us down, or to carry the load and take it forward until it no longer holds us back.
Our past doesn't define us. Neither does our present or our futures. Our identities are defined by God alone. The One who created us.
We have been created out of love, for love, to love and to be loved. If we seek to be validated by things other than God, then we will never be happy, we won’t be able to fully experience the perfect love he has for us, we will only be looking for more in an endless tiring search.
Life is short. And in the end we can only look back on the life we live. What do we want to see when we look back? That we were stuck with our heavy baggage, trying to avoid facing it, unconsciously being held down by our wounds and being afraid of them? Or that we lifted our crosses and decided to change what we could? That we were able to trust in God, be led by Him, and allowed Him to take the load off and heal us until those things no longer weighed us down?
No one can decide that for you and I. Only I can choose for myself and only you can for you.
