As you may already know, we have been working very hard on some new projects.
One thing I’ve personally been working on is handmade polymer clay earrings!
For those that know us personally, you’d know how long these earrings have been in the making. We’ve put in hours and hours of work, research, practice and experimentation. It’s taken a lot of patience, a lot of learning, determination, trials and plenty of error!
What started out to be a bit of fun - making random earrings - gradually turned into a much more careful process. At times I’d find that I’d love making earrings, but then other times I’d be so frustrated due to mistakes and mostly my impatience. We’ve found that there are so many things that need to be thought about. Every step of the process needs time and care. Every step is crucial, from conditioning the clay, designing, cutting, baking, sanding, buffing, cleaning and assembling each piece. It can be a tedious process, but the joy we feel when we are able to accomplish and create beautiful pieces is thrilling and exciting.
To make our earrings extra special, some of my by esther sisters came up with the idea of making earring collections based on the saints! What a great idea that was! It has helped us to refine our pieces, to be inspired by saints and other women, and to find ways to honour and share the beauty of the saints with many more people. Although at times, the end result doesn’t always turn out the way we hoped or as perfect as we would like - it is all part of the journey, all part of the learning.
I guess what I want to share is the care, effort, heart and soul we’ve put into the earrings. We are continually trying to hone in on our processes and we are doing our best! We are so excited to share them with you all! We’d like to think that these earrings represent each of us - imperfect, beautiful, unique creations of God.
